8 Jul 2008

The Safer Guildford Partnership takes to the streets to meet the people and answer questions relating to community safety.

Residents of Guildford town centre are invited to attend the community safety roadshow meeting taking place at Sandfield Primary School, on Wednesday 16th July at 7.30 pm to take advantage of speaking to key members of the Safer Guildford Partnership.

Dave Johnson, Chair of the Partnership, said: “The Safer Guildford Partnership is all about understanding local people in a proactive manner to find out what is important to them.

And added: “We then work on realistic solutions, and practical ways in meeting the needs of neighbourhoods to tackle all aspects of crime and the fear of crime so people can enjoy living in their area.  Feeding back on our actions is part of this.”

As well as the Guildford town Community Safety Team, key members of the partnership who will be present include: Tina Griffiths, Community Safety Sgt, Surrey Police, Helen Atkinson, Surrey Primary Care Trust, and Surrey County Councillor, Fiona White who will be there to answer important questions on local issues and all aspects of community safety in the borough.

Lead Guildford Borough Councillor for Community Safety, David Wright, said: “All too often people express their feelings of frustration that they don't have the opportunity to speak to the people that can make a difference and resolve issues that really matter to them.  So I urge everyone to come along and take advantage of this golden opportunity to have their say with the decision makers of the Safer Guildford Partnership."
