Guildford Gems shine
The first Guildford Gems employee recognition scheme was a great success, attracting 25 nominations from staff at Guildford Borough Council who all felt their colleagues went the 'extra mile'. The panel short-listed eight candidates before finally selecting four winners, who were prsented with certificates and £25 Marks and Spencer's vouchers by Chief Executive, David Hill.
One of the lucky winners is Marie Clarke, Safer Guildford Partnership Manager who won the Manager's Award.
Marie joined the Community Safety team in Neighbourhood and Housing in 1990 as a Community Safety Coordinator and last year Marie was promoted to Safer Guildford Partnership Manager. This is a seconded role working in partnership with Surrey police at a strategic level to reduce the fear of crime within the borough.
Marie's nominator said: "Marie always has time to offer when quite clearly she is often under pressure.... I feel valued as a member of the team, in Community Safety and within Neighbourhood and Housing because of Marie's efforts."
