Have fun going out and stay safe getting home
15 Dec 2009

If you want a drink, stop and think. How will you get home?

‘Plan your journey in advance and get home safely’ is the key message from the Safer Guildford Partnership this Christmas.

To make sure you have a great night out and a safe journey home avoiding the dangers of injury or death caused by drink driving, why not:
• Leave your car at home so there's no temptation to drive
• Put your local taxi number in your mobile NOW and book in advance
• Find out the time of the last train and leave time to buy a ticket
• Stay in a local hotel – you may get a discount for a group booking
• Club together for a minibus or ask your employer to provide one
• Stay sober? Why not nominate yourself as a designated driver and share your car and the cost of the journey with friends
• Use an alternative method of transport such as Scoot2boot, where a driver will pick you up from your venue and drive you and your car home. (For more information: www.scoot2boot.com)
Taxi Marshals will be looking after your safety at the taxi rank outside the Friary Centre and at the bottom of North Street on:
Friday 18, Saturday 19, Thursday 24 and Thursday 31 December.

John Badcock, Neighbourhood Manager, reinforced the message by saying: “We want people in Guildford to have a good time this festive season, drink responsibly and most importantly, get home safely to their family and friends.”
