What is the Safer Guildford Partnership?

The Safer Guildford Partnership is made up of Guildford Borough Council, Surrey Police, Surrey County Council (including Surrey Fire and Rescue), the National Offender Management Service, Surrey Primary Care Trust and the Youth Justice Service together with a number of other organisations such as Surrey Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service (SADAS).

The partnership works closely with Neighbourhood Police Teams made up of Neighbourhood Specialist Officers, Police Community Support Officers and Community Safety Wardens.

These officers are dedicated to a specific ward and their brief is to engage with the local community to address key issues of concern and promote positive local projects to create greater community cohesion.

As well as addressing local ward issues, the partnership has identified key areas of community concern in the borough of Guildford which are addressed by six working groups.

These multi-agency working groups have a remit to strengthen community links and keep the borough a safe and healthy place to live and work

They look at issues such as burglary, vehicle crime, street drinking, safe places for young people, safety in public places, truancy, safer public transport, and speeding traffic, as well as a number of national priorities such as Domestic Abuse and drugs.

Surrey has the lowest level of recorded crime in England and Guildford’s crime rate reflects this. Guildford Borough is a beautiful area, set in wonderful countryside and is one of the safest places to live, work and visit in the whole of the country.

It takes the hard work and commitment of all concerned to help keep it this way.

The Safer Guildford Partnership strives to improve life for the residents and visitors of Guildford and recognises there is always more that can be done to make the borough safer and create greater community links and cohesion.
