Local youngsters to enjoy the appliance of science
Young people in Surrey will soon have the opportunity to explore the excitement and pleasure of science, technology and engineering when the British Science Festival comes to Guildford.
From 5-10 September, over 350 of the UK’s top scientists and engineers will be in Guildford to discuss the latest developments in science with the public. In addition to talks and debates at the University of Surrey, there will be a host of events throughout the city including science cinema, exhibitions and hands-on entertainment.
As well as events and activities for families to take part in, there is an extensive schools’ programme. Students will have the chance to engross themselves in a wide range of activities: from flexing their engineering muscle devising ways to escape from a remote island, to examining sport through physics, to trying their hand at making the perfect tomato sauce. Amongst other things, older students will also be able to discuss the hottest current issues in science and technology face to face with practising scientists and engineers.
