We will continue to improve the quality of life for people in Guildford by working together to make the borough an even safer place.

Neighbourhoods:

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour in communities.
  • Work with young people who are victims and offenders.
  • Promote Neighbourhood Teams of Neighbourhood Specialist Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Community Safety Warden and others.
  • Reduce the number of complaints and educate residents on the environmental impact of litter.
  • Reduce the number of instances of criminal damage.
  • Ensure that community events are suitable for all ages.
  • Contribute towards funding the Drugs Action Team Housing Strategy Worker.

Town Centre:

  • Reduce drunkenness in Guildford town centre.
  • Raise awareness of the health risks of binge drinking.
  • Reduce violent and alcohol related crime in Guildford town centre.
  • Ensure victims of violent crime receive the support they need.

Crime Reduction:

  • Monitor and reduce burglary, vehicle crime and robbery.
  • Specifically work to reduce the number of repeat distraction burglaries.
  • Monitor all crimes, comparing our performance with similar Crime and Disorder Partnerships.
  • Monitor the basket of ten crimes against which our crime reduction target of 15% is being measured.
  • Monitor and reviewing all hate crimes every three months.

Transportation:

  • Reduce the number of people citing speed as a problem in Lovelace, Normandy, Friary and St Nicolas, Christchurch, Stoughton, Effingham and Pirbright.
  • Continue to reduce the numbers of people killed or seriously injured on Guildford’s roads.

Substance Misuse:

  • Reduce the supply of drugs locally, thus reducing the amount of drug and alcohol-related crime and disorder by providing a multi-agency response.
  • Continue to raise awareness of substance misuse across the community and in particular amongst young people.
  • Encourage drug and chronic alcohol offenders into approved treatment programmes (e.g. Drugs Intervention Programme).
  • Continue to support the wider police division and Surrey-wide substance misuse agendas.

Domestic Abuse:

  • Continue to raise awareness of domestic abuse across the community.
  • Continue to support victims of domestic abuse to report incidents and access services.
  • Maintain existing levels of outreach service and look to create a more sustainable Countywide outreach service.
  • Consider options to improve services to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Ensure access to training for agencies working with people that may be at risk of or who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • Identify prolific offenders and process them in the justice system as quickly as possible.
  • Continue to seek to support the wider police division and Surrey-wide Domestic Abuse Agendas, including the county Public Sector Agreement on Domestic Abuse.
