PLEASE KEEP CHECKING FOR THE NEXT YOUR SHOUT EVENT DATE
All 13-17-year-olds are welcome to the Your Shout events, which will feature a selection of the best dance, R’n B’ and hip hop music from 7-30 to 11-00pm.
Tickets are £3 on the door. The event is open to under 18’s only and a strict no alcohol policy will be enforced.
The event is being organised by the Safer Guildford Partnership, following consultation with young people from Park Barn last year.
Guildford Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Murray explained: “At the forum in Park Barn, young people asked for music gigs and safe dancing so we joined forces with Time to organise an evening for them in December 2006, which was a huge success. Since then, we have held further events, including a Valentine-themed night in February. All the events feature a resident DJ, and police officers, police community support officers and community safety wardens are always on hand to ensure that everything runs smoothly.”

In November 2006 various agencies and young people were gathered together, by Surrey County Council, at Kings College in Guildford to talk about the needs and expectations of young people. One of the main things to be heard from the young people that night was a repeated request for safe music gig nights. The young people wanted somewhere to go where they were safe and could listen to the kind of music that they wanted to listen to, and also dance as well.
